What we collect

Your email, display name and password hash (for the account); the learning language, level and native language you choose; the messages you type and the audio you record while practising; and usage events (which screens you open, how long you practise) used to keep streaks and statistics.

Why we need it

To run the tutor: your text and audio are sent to speech-recognition and language models to produce replies, transcripts and feedback. Audio is used for pronunciation scoring and is not used to identify you. Statistics power your progress, streaks, leaderboard position and achievements.

Who processes it

SayIt servers and the AI providers we use for speech recognition, speech synthesis and language models. They receive only what is needed for the request and are bound by their own data-processing terms. We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

Conversations and recordings stay while your account exists so you can review your progress. You can delete individual chats at any time. Deleting the account removes the profile, conversations, recordings, words and achievements within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.

Your rights

You can view and change your profile in the app, export or delete your data, and withdraw consent by deleting the account (Me → Delete account in the app, Settings on the web) or by writing to [email protected].

Children

SayIt is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Data is transferred over TLS and stored on access-controlled servers. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify you of any breach affecting your data as required by law.
